Academic Text Review
These assignments are designed to expose you to intercultural communication literature by obtaining, reading, and evaluating peer-reviewed literature. From the listed readings in the
syllabus, you will write a 3-page review of the article and chapter assigned that week. The Academic Text Review Assignments in total will be worth 100 points and each article Review is
worth 10 points. Papers will be evaluated for meeting the criteria stated below, as well as for grammar, thoughtfulness, logic, and pertinence to the topic. Each paper must be at least three
(3) pages long using a 12-point font, double-spaced, with 1” margins (top, bottom, and sides).
Any citations/references must be in appropriate APA format. You must include the full APA-style
reference for the article. The due dates are listed in the semester schedule. Late papers will lose
points.
In each Article Review the following questions must be addressed:
1. What is/are the hypothesis(es) of this study? Or what is the primary argument?
2. Are there any ethical considerations in this study?
3. How did the researchers collect the data (i.e., what were the methods)?
4. How many participants were used? What is the breakdown by age, ethnicity, sex?
5. What were the results? What statistics were used?
6. Was/were the hypothesis(es) supported? Or What evidence do they use to support their
hypothesis/argument? Is it convincing? Why or why not?
7. What are two strengths of this study.
8. What are limitations of this study.
9. What are the implications of this study?
