One of the most important steps after picking your topic is to determine what theoretical framework. In this activity, you will refer back to Chapter 4 of the Creswell text (pages 85-86) and use the hook and eye technique to experience how another researcher used their theoretical framework within their study. 
Find a journal article related to your research topic (it can be qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods) and use the hook and eye technique (pages 85-86) to understand the theoretical framework and flow of ideas while determining any deficiencies you find. You can submit your theoretical assessment by uploading a copy, scan, or image of your annotated article. If you would prefer, you can describe the hook-and-eye process you used for the article as a written document.

In the previous section, you examined the hook-and-eye technique. In this section, you will take a deeper look at theoretical frameworks and conceptual frameworks. It is important to understand and recognize the differences. Read the article, “Understanding, Selecting, and Integrating a Theoretical Framework in Dissertation Research: Creating the Blueprint for your ‘HouseLinks to an external site..’” A good method to examine theoretical frameworks appropriate for your topic is to look at existing dissertations to determine the methods used.  In this activity, you will examine existing dissertations. You can find dissertations and theses in ProQuestLinks to an external site.. Review several dissertations that relate to your research topic. Choose one dissertation and critique the theoretical framework. You should include the following in your critique:  

Identify and evaluate the general qualities of the framework. Does the author specifically define the framework used in the study?  
Does the theoretical framework align with the problem? 
Do the results and conclusions logically align with the premises and concepts of the theoretical framework?
