Body Paragraph 1:Applying the Formalist/Genre/Auteur Theory
Describe one of the broad theories you have learned about in class (auteur theory, genre theory, formalist
theory) and analyze your selected film through that lens. Discuss how the film works in the context of the

Conclusion:
Briefly summarize the ideas expressed in the essay and the impact of your chosen film. This is the portion
of the essay where you get to draw connections between all the elements of your chosen film and how
they are used to express commentary on social issues. (Approximately 200 words)
